Key Areas of Legal Specialisation

The real strength of any law firm lies in specialised expertise. The best firms in Sydney have dedicated teams focusing on specific areas of law, ensuring clients receive accurate and up-to-date advice.

Family Law. Covering sensitive issues like divorce, child custody, property settlements, and prenuptial agreements, family law requires a professional who combines both skill and empathy. The right lawyer ensures your rights are upheld while helping you reach a resolution with dignity.

Property and Conveyancing. Property lawyers and conveyancers handle complex contracts, title searches, and legal due diligence. Their role is crucial in preventing costly errors and ensuring smooth property transactions.

Wills and Estates. From preparing legally binding wills to managing probate and resolving disputes, wills and estates specialists provide peace of mind. They also assist with powers of attorney and enduring guardianship, ensuring your wishes are respected.

Business and Commercial Law. Companies rely on commercial lawyers for everything from start-up structuring to contract negotiations and dispute resolution. Their support helps businesses remain compliant, reduce risks, and create a strong foundation for growth.

Immigration Law. For international students, workers, and families hoping to make Sydney home, immigration lawyers are essential allies. They guide clients through visa applications, appeals, and other complex requirements.

Why Choosing the Right Firm Matters

Selecting a lawyer is not only about qualifications but also about finding the right fit for your needs. For example, a specialist in family law will be far more effective in custody matters than someone who primarily handles commercial disputes. Having the right legal partner ensures that you receive advice tailored to your situation, increasing the likelihood of a fair and positive outcome.

Beyond expertise, the working relationship is critical. You should feel comfortable asking questions and trusting that their advice reflects your best interests. Many firms in Sydney offer free consultations, which can help you assess whether they are the right partner for your circumstances before committing, giving you clarity and peace of mind before moving forward.

Local Knowledge Is A Major Advantage

Choosing a legal firm in Sydney provides a significant advantage. Local lawyers understand the nuances of the region’s courts, council regulations, and community standards. For instance, a property lawyer familiar with Sydney’s competitive housing market can identify risks that outsiders might overlook. Likewise, family lawyers with local court experience can provide targeted strategies that may influence your case’s outcome.

Moving Forward with Confidence

Legal matters can feel daunting, but with the right support, they become manageable. By partnering with an experienced legal firm in Sydney, you can approach challenges with confidence and peace of mind. Whether you’re protecting your family’s future, investing in property, or resolving a business matter, the right legal team is one of the most valuable allies you can have by your side. And there’s always one for you at PB Lawyers Australia.

First Consultation is Free

Choosing the right lawyer is a personal decision. A recommendation from a friend doesn’t necessarily mean a lawyer will be the right fit for you. Sometimes, it’s simply a matter of compatibility and connection.

Why is this important?

Because trust and understanding are essential in all legal matters. You need to feel that your lawyer is genuinely listening to you, understanding your circumstances, and addressing your concerns. They should prioritize what’s important to you, be transparent about the possible outcomes, and offer advice that is both realistic and well-considered.

For these reasons, we provide a no-obligation, free initial consultation for all new clients. This gives you the chance to meet your lawyer and determine if they’re the right match for you, without any financial commitment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my bankruptcy be annulled?

Annulment ends the bankruptcy prior to the standard period of 3 yrs. There are 3 ways for a bankruptcy to be annulled.

1. A bankrupt may propose a composition or arrangement to creditors to pay a portion of their debts (s73 of the Act). This is voted on by creditors and if accepted by creditors holding at least 75% of the debt the annulment will be granted.

2. Upon payment of all of the debts (s153A of the Act)

3. By the court if the court is satisfied that the sequestration order ought not to have been made (s153B of the Act)

What to do if Served with a Bankruptcy Notice?

If you are served with a bankruptcy notice, you should obtain urgent legal advice. This is because you only have 21 days to either comply with the notice or make an application to court to have it set aside. Failure to do so will result in an act of bankruptcy entitling the creditor to file a creditor’s petition, seeking a sequestration order (as discussed above under involuntary bankruptcy).

What are the rights of a bankrupt person?

The bankrupt person has rights including operating a savings bank account, traveling freely throughout Australia and acting as the executor of a deceased estate. They must, however, notify the trustee of any change of name, address or employment.
